Analysis:
A quick Goggle search on "maple seed" gave me more information that I ever wanted to know about the weight distribution and flight characteristics of this little autorotating wonder. I decided to scale up the plan for an origami maple seed using foam core as a base layer and pennies as discrete mass units.

A large plastic Easter Egg seemed an appropriate container for the actual egg. The plastic egg would be lined with cotton wadding to absorb any residual shock upon impact.
