Endless kaiseki dinners

Every night's stay in a ryokan inn includes a kaiseki dinner, a marathon of a set course meal that includes more dishes than you can count.

The girls love Yumi-san, the woman who takes care of us and brings us endless food morning and night

Kaiseki food is stunningly beautiful—to the point where it's hard to identify what anything actually is.

One of many, many courses

Some sea creatures are better left on the sea floor, like this uni (sea urchin) served raw in its own shell

Liya does her best to stay with us through the marathon dinners

As it turns out, both nights at the inn the girls fall asleep halfway through dinner. Since we're eating in our room, we can happily transfer them to poofy futons only a few steps away.
