Return to civilization: From Jomsom to Kathmandu

The weather's good enough to fly, and we're elated to get out of Jomsom. We fly first to Pokhara, have lunch at the Fish Tail Lodge, then fly to Kathmandu. Returning to the Annapurna Hotel is like walking back into civilization: we drop off some clothes for a desperately-needed cleaning, take hot showers, and relax on beds with actual sheets. At night, we gorge ourselves on Indian food at Ghar-E-Kabob.

Back at last in Kathmandu: Swayambunath temple

Here ends my journal for the Pokhara to Jomsom trek. After returning to Katmandu, we discovered that our delay in Jomsom had caused my mom and sister to miss their connecting flights back to the States. We ended up spending several days trying to get them on flights before we finally succeeded. Chris and I stayed in Nepal for another week or so, trekking through the Khumbu region where Mount Everest lies.

I hope you've enjoyed reading this, and that I've managed to convey some of the excitement, tedium, weirdness, and wonder of it all. Please write if you have a chance, and let me know about your own recent adventures, big or small.
