Children's Castle

Jan's college friend Beth and her husband Hiro live south of Tokyo with their girls Emily and Elena, but we occasionally have the opportunity to see them come through Seattle. We're happy to have the chance to see them in Japan, and they come up to Tokyo so we can spend the weekend together. Since we're all traveling with kids, we spend our time on child-friendly activities. Our main outing is to a children's museum called Kodomo no Shiro ("Children's Castle") in Shibuya.

Waiting for the train on the Yamanote Line. Anya declares that the main difference between the U.S. and Japan is that, in Japan, "The trains are too crowded."

Emily has a great time at Kodomo no Shiro, as do the rest of the girls. Anya spent most of the time running around yelling for Emily and Elena to follow her.

A rare moment in which Anya, Emily, Liya, and Elena actually sit still for a moment

Back at the hotel, we take advantage of the nice pool to let the girls get in some more physical activity. Anya's becoming quite a fish these days, and spurns an offer of water wings.

Love those goggles
