Grinnell Graduation — May 2004

Rock Creek State Park

After a post-ceremony picnic, we (Jan, Anya, Chris, Skye, Lyn) spend the afternoon at nearby Rock Creek State Park.

On a day threatening rain, we have Rock Creek State Park all to ourselves

Anya likes standing in the meadow because it reminds her of one of her picture books

In the evening the rain finally comes and, boy, does it ever come—constant lightning and thunder accompany a torrent of rain. In the midst of this, we head out for dessert.

Grinnell's top dessert place: a tiny shack called the Dari Barn

Nothing beats eating ice cream under an awning during a deluge

After the trip is over and we're back in Seattle, Anya has this to say about the trip: "We will be gone. We went on TWO airplanes. One was red! And we will be gone. Uncle Chris and Aunt Skye and Daddy! TRAIN! We waved to the man. And the lo-ca-mo-tive went away."

Congratulations to Skye and Jared!
