Hawaii — June 2003

Scenic driving, not hiking

Our friends Peter and Helen Gram live on Hawai'i just a little south of where we're staying, and we have the opportunity to visit with them a couple of times. They take us out to the head of the Pololu Valley for what looks like a cool hike down to the beach. As it turns out, by the time we get there, we're ready to head back to town for lunch. We end up settling for a scenic drive instead of a hike.

On another day we drive down to Peter and Helen's home, which looks out over Kealakekua Bay.

Overcast weather still makes for pretty views of Kealakekua Bay

From the Big Island, we fly to the Los Angeles so Angela can attend a conference, and we have a nice weekend stay with her brother Johnny and his wife Jenny before heading back home to Seattle.
