Japan — 2006

First full day

Thanks to jet lag, the girls wake up in the middle of the night, so all our days in Tokyo start early.

We get to witness the "Land of the Rising Sun" pretty much every day we're in Tokyo

Our first stop on our first morning is a local "Cafe Doutor" coffeeshop. This chain of coffeeshops is everywhere in Tokyo, and perhaps not an exciting destination to the average person here, but for us it's a nostalgic trip.

Liya's all ready to hit the road, but Anya wants to linger over her cocoa.

Our first real tourist destination is Harajuku to shop for some "Tonari no Totoro" anime merchandise, but we fit in a visit to Yoyogi Park. There's a nice garden there, and Anya and Liya are delighted to stretch their legs and run along the paths.

In the evenings we try to visit favorite restaurants, such as a great dumpling restaurant we found one time by complete chance.
