Thanksgiving 2002

For Thanksgiving we travel to the Exeter, New Hampshire, home of Jan's stepbrother Andrew Kolozsvary, Andrew's wife Alison, and their daughters Sarah and Margie. We're joined by the whole Kolozsvary clan: Marlee, Stephen, Anne, and Anne's husband Jon Williams. Anya enjoyed meeting all her cousins.

Thanksgiving itself is your basic family get-together, but the night before Thanksgiving we go out for Exeter's finest evening entertainment: candlepin bowling. This is like normal bowling only weirder—if that's possible—since the thin little pins don't bounce around as much as regular pins. This weirdness is mitigated for by a brilliant family-oriented feature all bowling lanes should have: a pair of guard rails down the side of the lane so you can't roll a ball into the gutter.

From left to right: Sarah, Andrew, Stephen, Alison, Anya, Angela, Anne, Jon, Henry. Andrew ("Bondi" to family) appears to be hotly contesting a point.

Anya doesn't really play, but does like the bowling balls

Henry's preferred bowling technique is to roll a ball down the lane so slowly that he can get several balls rolling down the lane simultaneously.

Just before leaving New Hampshire, we all stop at a children's museum near the Massachusetts border. Anya has a blast.
